Our Mission

Our mission as a congregation can be summed up in the commission Jesus gave to his disciples after he rose from the dead.

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:18–20 (NIV)

Telling the good news of Jesus, our Savior from sin, to those who have not heard. Strengthening the faith of those who have been brought to faith through the gospel. These two tasks represent the broad scope of our mission. We carry out this mission in a variety of ways.

In our worship, we come together to be encouraged and encourage one another as we share God’s Word with each other. Through reading Scripture, singing hymns, praying, and more, we proclaim the gospel to all who are with us. Our worship services are where the Sacraments are most often observed: Baptism, by which the Holy Spirit creates faith in a person’s heart and makes them a member of God’s family, and Holy Communion, in which we receive Christ’s body and blood for the forgiveness of our sins and the strengthening of our faith.

In our Bible Studies, Sunday School, and other classes, we take time to examine God’s Word in more detail than in a typical worship service. We learn more about what God’s Word has to say to us and how it applies to our lives. We tell the next generation about the amazing work of God’s love. Our Lutheran elementary school serves as another part of carrying out our mission to make disciples, to make students of Jesus, of all nations.

In our lives, we reflect the love of Christ to those around us. Carrying out our mission as a congregation doesn’t happen just in the walls of our church and school buildings; every moment of our lives is a moment in which we can give thanks to God for saving us. With humble service, comforting words, and attitudes of peace and joy, we carry out our mission wherever we are.

As individuals and as a congregation, the members of St. Paul Lutheran do this and so much more to carry out the mission of sharing the gospel in our communities and around the world. The best way to learn more might just be to give us a visit for worship or Bible study, to talk to one of our pastors or other members, and, most importantly, to listen to God’s Word. There you’ll see clearly just what this gospel mission is all about.
