Living My Life as a Christian

August 26—November 10

Putting your Christian faith into practice is a lifelong pursuit that requires consistent guidance, solid biblical wisdom, and daily reminders of God’s grace. This study addresses a wide variety of Christian living topics that new and seasoned believers often struggle to apply to their lives, such as maintaining a regular prayer habit, managing God’s gifts wisely, and professing our faith in our daily lives.

The Smalcald Articles & Contemporary Catholicism

November 17—December 22

The Smalcald Articles, written by Martin Luther, are one of the key confessions of the Lutheran church. In this two-in-one study, we will review the Bible teachings summarized in the articles; we will also examine what the Roman Catholic Church teaches about these things and how to respond in love with the truth of God’s Word. Continuing from last year, in these lessons we will study Sin & The Law, Repentance, and Indulgences.

Revelation: The Distant Triumph Song

December 29—February 9

The Book of Revelation was given for our comfort. It depicts in striking imagery the struggles that believers face in this life as the Church Militant. But just as striking are its pictures of our heavenly victory in Christ as the Church Triumphant. This overview study of Revelation will help us see the confidence we have in Christ for this life and the life everlasting.

Psalms: Praying with Christ and His Church

February 16—March 2

The Book of Psalms is the songbook of the Church. In it, we see Christ’s work of salvation prophetically proclaimed in poetry. In it, we hear our Savior pray, and so we his people pray with him. This introduction to the psalter will help us both to see Christ in the Psalms and to learn how we can use this book in our personal devotions.

Apologetics: Defending the Faith

March 9—April 13

“Apologetics” is a term that can often be misunderstood, and so also often misapplied. In this study, we will see how we can thoughtfully and lovingly engage in conversation with skeptics of the Christian faith. We do this using God’s gift of reason which is rooted in gentleness and respect with the goal of love towards neighbor. Apologetics is a ministry of caring!

Brothers & Sisters in Christ: Living God’s Design for Men & Women

April 27—May 25

In his Word, God clearly shows us his design for men and women. At the same time, he does not give us express commands for every application of these principles. In Christian freedom, we live within God’s design to show love to God and love to our neighbor. In this study, we will review the Biblical principles of God’s design for male and female. We will then consider how to apply these principles in the various realms of life, with special consideration toward breaking down common assumptions and stereotypes that creep into our understanding.

19 Minutes with Luther

June—August

Our summer study of Luther’s Small Catechism continues. This year we’ll study the Third Article of the Apostles’ Creed, Holy Baptism, and Holy Communion.
