CALLED HOME TO HEAVEN

On October 6, the Lord called out from this world the soul of our brother, Virgil Gehri. We pray for the Lord to comfort Virgil’s family during this time of grief and to lead all of us to rejoice in the sure hope of the resurrection to eternal life. Christian Funeral for Virgil was held on October 13 at St. Paul’s Wonewoc campus.

FALL LWMS RALLY

St. Paul, Wonewoc is hosting the fall rally of the LWMS Scenic South-Central Circuit this coming Thursday, October 19th. Registration begins at 9:00am. All ladies who are members of St. Paul’s are also members of LWMS. Come and see how the work of LWMS supports WELS missions both at home and throughout the world.

ADULT BIBLE STUDY

We offer a variety of Bible study classes during the year. Whether young or old, experienced Christian or curious observer, join us as we take time to learn more of God’s Word for us together., Bible Study meets weekly at both campuses at 9:15. The current topic, through December 24, is “The Smalcald Articles and Contemporary Catholicism.” The Smalcald Articles, written by Martin Luther, are one of the key confessions of the Lutheran church. In this two-in-one study, we will review the Bible teachings summarized in the articles; we will also examine what the Roman Catholic Church teaches about these things. Our study will help us to recognize that the false teachings found at the time of the Reformation are still the position of the Roman Catholic Church today, and we’ll see how we can respond in love with the truth of God’s Word.

CHURCH CLEANING SCHEDULE

Last spring, we created a cleaning schedule for the Wonewoc campus.  Families are assigned a week to clean the church, both school families and able-bodied non-school members.  We are finally getting back on track after the summer to cover each week from now until December 31.  This will begin the first week in October.  The cleaning usually takes about 2 hours with 2 or three families sharing a week.  It should amount to only one week out of the year. There are copies of the schedule on the table in back of the sanctuary.  If your name is not on this schedule, you will probably be on for the new year.  If you unable to clean during your assigned week, please switch with another family or call the office and we will help find someone else.  The office can also answer any questions that you might have regarding supplies and duties.  Thank you for your help!

ALTAR GUILD MEMBERS NEEDED

St. Paul, Wonewoc campus is in need of people to serve on Altar Guild. Duties just take a short time out of your week and involve preparing the altar and chancel for worship. This includes setting up for communion, changing altar paraments, refreshing flowers, refilling candles, etc.    Anyone, men, or ladies, willing to serve in this capacity, please contact Julie Lankey-Smallwood by email julielankeysmallwood@gmail.com or phone (608-464-3475).
